The Board of Christian Education
The Christian Board of Education oversees the spiritual formation for believers of all ages. We welcome children wholeheartedly in worship. We believe they learn a great deal in the pews with us (and the adults learns a great deal from them too). Wiggles and giggles are a sign we are a vital church full of life. Our sanctuary has worship bags to keep busy hands occupied and our services include interactive Children's Moments before children go to Sunday School.
Sunday School begins in worship and then students head to their classrooms to further explore the scripture in a rotation model Sunday School experience. We use crafts, storytelling, science, missions, baking, and drama activities to engage with each week's scripture lesson. Children remain in worship to witness and participate in the sacrament of Holy Communion the first Sundays of the month. We follow the District 13 School Calendar and do not have Sunday School on "long weekend" or school vacations.
A Confirmation Class has begun for 2018. Most students interested in confirming and affirming their baptismal promises are in 7th-10th grade, but there are exceptions. Students will begin meeting with the pastor and lay leaders to understand more fully the covenant promises made at their baptism. We delve into what it means to be a teen of faith and an engaged member of the Church. For information on joining the Confirmation class contact the pastor.
We follow Safe Conduct practices in our church to ensure the safety of our children, youth and vulnerable adults. We follow a "two-adults" policy for all Sunday School programing. Volunteers complete background checks and are trained in Safe Conduct practices. Copies of our Safe Conduct policy are available in the church office and Narthex.
